boYO

I don't know why I have been posting so much about yogurt, but why stop now? boYO serves up natural frozen yogurt that is soo good! Even better, it is gluten-free. I have only confirmed that the original flavor is gluten-free, but the staff will probably know what the flavor of the day's ingredients are. They also have a wide assortment of gluten-free toppings, such as fresh raspberries or mango!

Fage

Another yogurt choice to the mix! Fage Greek Style Yogurt....

"FAGE is an excellent source of protein due to its unique straining process. Vegetarians can eat FAGE TOTAL and is also suitable for diabetics, pregnant women and people on gluten-free diets. It can also be used to cook with in your favorite recipes since it will not separate in high heat. FAGE is pure, creamy and can be enjoyed without adding anything to it. It is simply delicious and nutritious."*

P.F. Chang's China Bistro

Although they are owned by the same folks of Cheesecake Factory (which is not Celiac friendly), they have an awesome gluten-free menu. When I went, the server was excellent in ensuring my food remained gluten-free. They even have gluten-free soy sauce (not the one on the table- your server will bring it for you). Overall, a great restaurant to go to for safe & awesome food for you and your non-Celiac friends. Oh yeah, they totally have a gluten-free chocolate cake!

Stoneyfield vs Yoplait

I find breakfast to be my biggest gluten-free struggle. I yearn for french toast and pancakes, but I have yet to find anything gluten-free that comes even close in taste. Anyways, yogurt and fruit is a healthy, quick, gluten-free breakfast or mid-afternoon snack. Stonyfield Yogurts are gluten-free and found at most grocery stores. In my mind, there are some things that should never be unprocessed and yogurt makes that list. For those of you like myself out there, I much prefer the processed Yoplait.

Stoneyfield Yogurt:
Certified gluten-free. All of our yogurts, smoothies, and soy-yogurts—except for our YoBaby Plus Fruit & Cereal, YoKids Squeezers, Oikos Greek Yogurt, and frozen yogurt—are certified gluten-free.*

Yoplait:
Is Yoplait yogurt gluten free?

Yes, the entire Yoplait yogurt range is gluten free, including Yoplait Original, Yoplait Lite and Yoplait formé no fat.**

Whole Foods

For those of you who want to spend twice as much as you would at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods also has a great selection of gluten-free items. Almost everything that is on the gluten-free market can be found there. They also have a handy gluten-free list of their items. Although, the best part of the Whole Foods experience, their prepared foods, is not included on their gluten-free list. They do have ingredients listed above each item in the salad bar, but on a couple of the items there is room for interpretation (some say natural flavoring).

Lay's

Celiacs Disease has already taken so much from me, but to know I still have what is most important is priceless. Chips and dip. Thanks to the fine folks at Frito-Lay we can all still enjoy the American dream: onion dip with Ruffles. A few words of caution, they make two brands of most dips: "Frito-Lays" (comes in a cardboard can- not GF) and "Lays" (comes in a glass jar- is GF). Visit the list on their page and make sure you clearly match the item to the item listed on the page.

Newman's Own

The legendary actor Paul Newman established Newman's Own.

"Newman's Own has grown into a powerful and lasting expression of Paul Newman's generosity. The Company has generated over $250 million in proceeds that have been donated by Paul Newman and the Newman's Own Foundation to thousands of charities worldwide."*

In addition to their generosity, most of their products are also gluten-free! If you check out the link below you may see the full list of their products. I recommend their salsas!

Burton's Grill

I should have listed Burton's first. They are the mecca of gluten-free in Boston. As you can visit below, they have an extensive gluten-free menu. One of the worst parts of going out to eat is not being able to devour the rolls. Burton's even has gluten-free dinner rolls! Their burgers (with gluten-free bun and fries!) are amazing, and they have gluten-free beer. The staff goes above and beyond (shout out to Jennifer) to ensure a normal dining experience. All food is prepared and cooked in separate space to ensure no cross contamination. Thank you Burton's!

Chipotle Mexican Grill

I have quickly found that grabbing quick gluten-free food on the go is near impossible. Until, I found Chipotle Mexican Grill. My favorite is a vegetarian bowl with guac! Their guac isn't listed on their allergen card, but online you can see the list of all ingredients and it is gluten-free (also confirmed with a manager). I have yet to have a problem, but it is not a totally gluten-free kitchen- so there are risks. The servers grab the lettuce and cheese with gloved hands, and I always request for the server to change their gloves. The only gluten in the kitchen comes from the flour tortillas, but if they were to handle the flour tortillas and touch the lettuce with the same glove, theoretically all the lettuce is now contaminated. Again, I have never had a problem when asking for new gloves, and I go at least twice a week. On some occasions the server has even grabbed all fresh ingredients from storage to further decrease the risk of cross contamination. http://www.chipotle.com/

Vino!

In the spirit of Friday night and perhaps to set the tone of things to come, I would like to list some tasty wine options. When asking what I would call experts (Trader Joe's employee), I was told all wines are gluten-free. LIES. Okay so, apparently...

"Generally all wine is gluten free, but it is best to check with the manufacture to make sure that there are no glutinous additives incorporated into the wine and to also ensure that they were stored in gluten free storage tanks. Some wines are aged in barrels that once contain another substance that could have held a glutinous product. This is rare, but can happen. Also you will want to avoid Wine Coolers. Wine Coolers are NOT Gluten Free, because they contain barely malt....
...There is also some concern with cross contamination with wines that involves the practice of sealing the barrels with a flour/water paste that is common with European Union barrel manufacturers. Most US based manufactures currently use a neutral food grade paraffin to seal the barrels during the construction process, but there are some manufacturers that import and use the flour/water based barrels."*

Anyways, I have checked with the manufacturer of [yellow tail], and all of their wines are gluten free!

The referenced webpage says they have checked with the manufacturer, and I have also checked with both Beringer and Kendall Jackson and they have passed the test.
